To BRC Grade 1 and beyond

With our experience in food packing we know how important it is to ensure and maintain quality standards. That is why we work to BRC Grade 1 level, ISO 9001/2000 standards and are proud to have achieved several blue chip manufacturing site approvals.

Our facilities include antibacterial walls and floors, and air-conditioning in both the factory and warehouse. We also perform salmonella testing and environmental Swabbing Allergen Assessment checking and have 2 dedicated quality control staff members trained in HACCP and the ISO and BRC standards.

Our warehousing avoids the need for pallet racking and has room for expansion.

Temperature controlled warehousing

Air conditioning units in all areas keep the warehouse and factory at a regulated temperature. As part of our BRC Grade 1 compliance we monitor the temperature four times a day and record the readings for cross reference.

We built mezzanine floors in the warehouse so we didn’t need to use pallet racking, and we can now hold 2,000 pallets at full capacity, with room for expansion if the need is required.

Sage 200 manufacturing

In 2011 we implemented our own bespoke Sage 200 manufacturing MRP System, which includes a full inventory system, full traceability, product recall and bar code labelling system. We can see right up-to-the-minute stock usage output and what has been despatched, and via an interface device we can send EDI messages to our customers on impending deliveries.

The site also has the most up to date fire and intruder alarm systems, which are monitored by local police and fire stations, and there are also recorded CCTV monitoring systems in place.

The value of high quality staff

At Layford we treat our staff as extended family. We are very grateful that many of our 120 permanent staff have been with us since we first set up business, and have helped us grow over the last 21 years through their commitment and dedication to the company.

Where extra staff is needed during times of peak demand we use a trusted staffing agency that has a GLA Licence and has gone through all of our audits. Full staff training is given at the start of employment and yearly training schedules are also in place to keep them up to current  food industry regulations.

Attention to detail

Our quality system runs to ISO 9001:2000 and BRC Grade 1 level incorporating clean as you go policy, metal detection, weight checks and temperature checks. All of our facilities have a fully qualified maintenance team and safety checks are performed on a daily, weekly, monthly schedule.

The assurance of quality is fundamental to all the work undertaken at Layford.
